Had access to Developer Agent for a couple of weeks now and it’s the coolest piece of tech I’ve seen in my Workday career. It lets you build extend apps, agents, orchestrations all in natural language, either in the UI or your CLI. It’s definitely not perfect yet, but it’s already really cool and you can see the vision and ambition in the product. Currently in EA and supposed to be GA in R2.

The last time I dealt with Workday and Job applications through Workday, their "AI Tool " couldn't even understand basic Résumé formatting. Manual HR intervention was needed to pull my application out of rejection hell, as the AI would auto-close my application without fail around 3AM. The problem? A references section that was requested was mistsken for working 20+ jobs at the same time. Despite having a HEADING 2 saying "REFERENCES" Thus the meme of scary job applications and no one wanting to

Deployment agent has been an absolute game changer for me as someone who hates navigating Community. I'm a new HRIS manager with limited backend Workday experience (lot's of functional/analyst level experience and technical experience in other systems) Deployment agent has been so useful in finding quick scenarios to troubleshoot issues, how to config new features etc etc. I love it and encourage everyone to use it. I really want to know how much other companies are spending on flex credits. We

POSITIVE reddit

Deployment Agent is solid. Yes, it hallucinates and makes up tasks/fields that don't exist but it has helped our team get solid answers and help build solutions many times since enabling it a few months ago. Looking forward to seeing how making it 'tenant aware' towards the end of this year helps improve the tool even more. Self Service Agent is.. fine. It's better than Workday Assistant but nothing game changing. My hope is that by the end of this year, we have Agent to Agent/MCP General Availa

Do not buy it. You would be absolutely mad to purchase workday for 800 employees. It shouldn’t even feature on your short list.

NEGATIVE reddit

The biggest issue with workday ai is right now in the tenant the agents don’t do anything. Payroll agent for example is information only. Next issue is the solutions only work with tenant items and data. Third many of the agents will force sku purchases like prism for financial analysis agent to work. Lastly it’s expensive as hell. Flex credits aren’t going to last imo. Workday is trying to replace the seat value with the usage and it’s just not apples to apples. You can build better solutions f

NEGATIVE reddit

The power of workday is that it’s very customizable. Now with customization, comes a price tag of implementation. All an implementation is people’s rate x hours. That’s why workday implementations are so expensive, it requires manpower and time to make sure everything is right. A botched implementation will really leave you hanging with workday. That said, other vendors like UKG, dayforce, rippling, etc that do activations, you’re left with the bag of figuring out the system yourself

NEGATIVE reddit

This is a great idea, commenting to come back later. We've been part of just about every DPG/ea for most of the agents, happy to share some of the experience so far. With the acknowledgments it's only been in non-production as signing the flex credit agreement just isn't a space we're in yet or have seen enough roi to justify the unknown.

My best advice is don't do a budget implementation . You will regret it for years to come. Shell out the cash for a thorough implementation that includes transformation. You do need to evolve your processes and thinking for Workday. Change management will go a long way as well. Find an implementer who will serve in an advisory capacity, not just a technical conversion team. Be clear with potential implementers on your needs from them before you sign an engagement.

NEGATIVE reddit

My organization is currently implementing HRM, FIN, and SCM. Original go-live was October 2024, but was pushed back to July 2025. A huge reason for the delay are the many pitfalls experienced WD users have mentioned. My organization is already under staffed and is having staff perform the implementation alongside our normal rolls. Needless to say, it has created low morale as we're overworked. Additionally, atleast for us in FIN/SCM, our functional expert is horrible. He lacks tons of knowledge

NEGATIVE reddit

Many are mentioning configuration but don’t forget about needing someone post go live to support integrations .

POSITIVE reddit

It really depends on the data that you put in, the business processes that are implemented and how well the implementers train the end users. Workday is great and it is intuitive. I don’t what system you’re transitioning from, but I’m certain that there will be people that hate it and some that love it 😂. Be prepared for A LOT of change. Expect re-orgs. New positions. It won’t all happen at once, but the three years AFTER go-live will be a whirlwind.

IMO Workday is the simplest HRIS for people to use, and one of the most difficult to configure "properly". By properly, I mean setup to accomplish the requirements, and be easily maintainable. The reason for the difficulty is that you may configure Workday in a multitude of ways to accomplish the requirements. With options comes the need for the knowledge and wisdom to select the "best" or "better" options. My point being that it takes skill to keep Workday humming along smoothly. The size of th

This might be a bit cynical of me, but can anyone actually tell me what WSS can do that can't be done with the regular P2P functionality in Workday? I'm interested in those who have implemented it in either their org or a customer's. From what I have seen in my previous org (had no part in it but observing the carnage) it looked like a massive PITA getting connectors to work, sandbox didn't refresh in sync, and it didn't really add much funtionally that we couldn't have configured in workday its

NEGATIVE reddit

I’ve been seeing more and more companies invest heavily in Workday (and similar HR systems). But here’s the thing - I’ve also seen some teams end up with more complexity than before. Why? Because HR tech is only as good as how it’s implemented. We’ve walked into organizations where: Employees have 5 clicks to approve one leave request Managers can’t find reports without IT help Adoption rates drop after go-live because no one “owns” the change Yet, when it’s done right, Workday can be a total game

NEGATIVE reddit

Shitty implementation leads to shitty results. The process is as difficult or as easy as the business wants it to be - it’s not the systems fault HR wants a 9-step programme to approve absence.
