But they were never a solid business. Emad Mostaque somehow got a lot of investors to spend millions of dollars developing and training several versions of their image model (and a few other models,) then gave it all away for free and rode off into the sunset. They gave the best utility-speed ration of any model I tried, usually staying coherent while being "blazing fast" (... comparatively...). Everything else I tried was either a lot less coherent (like tinyllama) or so slow to be nearly unusable on my phone.”
