“I have been using Duolingo for a number of years. I began with Norwegian while i was living in Norway. Now i live in Germany and am learning German. My enthusiasm for Duolingo decreased when it went through a major redesign a couple of years ago and i actually wrote a complaint somewhere at that time. Recent improvements, however are impressing me like anything so it is only fair that i leave a good review now!! The current German course is super, super excellent!. I love the content. I's great ”

“Leider komme ich nach 1117 Tagen in Folge nicht mehr weiter, die App ist nach Score 129 zu Ende, Score 130-160 enthält keine Inhalte, man erhält lediglich die Info, „Kurs abgeschlossen“, Antworten auf Anfragen an Duolingo erhält man nicht, sehr enttäuschend 😡da bleibt nur die Kündigung, sehr schade 😢”

“I have been learning Japanese very very seriously with 2 teachers a week and 646 days with Duolingo. I have recently arrived at a chapter with no explanations at all,no theme, landing me with 14 new words per lesson,out of context totally. No answer to my feedback, I feel perturbed and disillusioned with the whole app Where has the teacher gone???!? It's becoming a useless experience ”

“I love the chess. However, I have fewer features as an Android user than Apple users. Mine is a paid version. The Indonesian language lessons are terrible. Some example sentences are: "My pumpkin is taken to the bank". "I see a cat flying". "That dolphin sits". "There is no rich bear in this century". And even more ridiculous ones. Better to remove it until it is rewritten.”

“I’ve finished the Spanish course, and as someone who moved to Spain, I found Duolingo extremely useful, and it got me far. I’ve also gotten an official B2 level certificate for which the credit goes mostly to Duolingo (and me, of course). In the end, it’s also an extremely cheap method of studying a language. I’m now studying Mandarin on Duolingo and while that course isn’t as good as the Spanish course I still feel like I’m making good progress and I’m considering taking a level test next year.”

“My daughter purchased family membership for us as a family but at the end of the free trial it has stopped working properly even though it has taken the money for the paid subscription. We have sent three emails but like others reporting here the customer service is non existent. Such a shame . ”

I was on day 295 of my streak but since Wednesday last week I cannot choose an answer and am stuck on the same question while wasting my credits buying freezes to keep my streak rather than starting over as this happened before - 2. you should be able to put it in holiday mode as internet connection is not always available on holiday - I’ve emailed Duolingo 3 times and the customer service response has been almost non existent about the app freezing !!!!!!!! ”

“Extremely disappointing experience. Due to serious technical failures on Duolingo's platform, I was unable to receive the service I paid for. Instead of providing meaningful assistance, support repeatedly sent automated AI-generated responses with additional troubleshooting tasks. Every time I completed a requested step, a new one appeared, creating an endless cycle of unpaid work for the customer. The process consumed significant time and effort and felt more like testing and training their sy”

“I have used Duolingo Spanish for over 2 years with very few problems. I use the web version on my Mac (using Chrome as the browser) and prefer it over the phone app (which I have but don’t like using). I use the free version of Duolingo. For the past 3 days I have not been able to access anything on Duolingo at all. I get the message "this page isn't working". I have deleted the cache, tried other browsers (Safari, Microsoft Edge) with no success. Any suggestions?”

“Update: Autumn was able to restore my streak and give me the gems back within a few minutes of reaching out. If you’re having issues, I’d maybe suggest Reddit first before emailing the AI support.”

“Thought I’d cancelled my free trial of Super. Notice a day or two later (having not used the app in that time) I’d been charged £70. Emailed to request a cancelation and refund. Got automated response saying no basically. Emailed again. Another automated no. Terrible customer service. ”

“It's so refreshing to see a video of someone not trashing Duolingo. Honestly, seeing you speak Spanish is extremely impressive, even though I don't know Spanish at all... Being able to speak *anything*, just by using a free app for 15-30 minutes a day is impressive. The HUGE advantage of Duolingo is that it's actually fun, and doesn't feel like studying. So I stick with it, and that's everything to me. I'm currently on day 190 of Japanese, and I am confident that I can communicate a bit in Japan”

“I am signed up to a family package and apart from the constant annoying almost every day reminders ever since my package started, find it quite good. BUT if they don't stop pestering me, sometimes more than twice a day, I will not renew my membership. I am not a child, don't treat me like one.”

“Hours of animations, to get to where it STILL gives you a picture of a dog and asks you to identify a dog, Nobody has ever learned a language with this app. When logging in with a username and password (no email), the first 2 times it will say 'sorry your password is incorrect' 'forgot my password?' so that you can give them your email. If you try a third, omg my password wasn't incorrect how'd that happen. ”
