What it is
Cursor builds AI coding agents that work autonomously for hours, writing, testing, and reviewing code without constant supervision. The tool combines codebase-aware suggestions with tab-to-accept autocomplete that predicts multiple lines ahead. Early reviewers describe the agent mode as the standout feature â you assign a coding task and the AI works through it independently while you focus on architecture decisions. The audience is software developers across full-stack, frontend, and backend roles who want AI assistance that understands their entire project context.
At a glance
Cursor offers proprietary AI models (Grok/Composer), deep IDE workflow automation, and innovative codebase-aware suggestions that transform the coding experience beyond simple ChatGPT wrappers.
Strong evidenceQuality score
Cursor AI code editor and agent builder with strong in-editor context handling, but can be expensive and RAM-heavy.

âSolid platform. I use it 12 hours a day. I prefer it over Claud, Open Ai, and others. Be careful with 3rd party models though. Those can get expensive. As a CTO, I spend between $500-$800 per month on credits. The output is equal to 10 full-time developers. â
âI am extremely disappointed with my experience with Cursor. I was using Cursor to develop an existing software project. During a separate request to build another application, the Cursor Agent ended up working inside the repository containing my existing application. Cursor has confirmed to me in writing that the agent: * was given my existing repository as its working environment; * identified that the repository already contained another application; * nevertheless proceeded without asking â
âI'm working world lead IT company, used the agent to fix two linked Jira bugs but for some reason it is very poor performance at all. Disgusting experience. What went wrong: Over-scoped the task. It treated diagnostic data pasted in the ticket (specific API field values) as if they were requirements, invented "gaps," and pulled me into extra work the tickets never asked for. Flip-flopped on the core fix. It added a "gate" refinement, then had to walk it back after review caught a regression, tâ

âIt's probably the best IDE you'll get in terms of effective productivity. However, they constantly change price models- which is an issue if you pay annually and six months in, suddenly you can't get the work done you expected to when you signed up. Their customer service isn't the best- it's an AI chatbot initially unless escalated. If you have a pending invoice, they will lock you out of your annual subscription- even though they owe you more than you owe them. This is unethical and clearly â
âMy data was leaked through Trojan Horse virus, someone used my money through extra usage on Cursor website. I reported it to Cursor with a request for a refund of extra usage from hacker, but they just havent replied me at all. Its already a month, sent few messages, only instant-bot reply and nothing more. I dont recommend you guys using this program because they will never help you with refund even if you got scammed. Thats extremely unprofessional, dont recommend Cursor.â
âYour costs will explode, your plan will be altered even if pre-paid and you have no way of EVER getting human support when you really need. They rather fight it out in court before they consider helping you. That is the most genuine advice i can give. I had a real issue with my account and was not able to use Cursor anymore. After nearly a month without help or cursor on a prepaid plan I gave up, canceled my subscription and just let the remaining time run out - without any chance of doing anâ
âI like it. Been using it for years now and had no problems. But itâs not as good as codex or Claudeâ
âterrible customer service. was on extra usage to do a few tasks, cursors was down during this time and ended up in a loop that costed 7$. sent all the proof for refunds and they refused. they also state in their same website they were down during the time i was asking cursor to do those tasks. it's also against EU laws and I will insist to get my momey back through any need.â
âAbsolutely a scam! Never dont charge this app, as you're gonna lose your money in a couple of hours. It's calling it a monthly plan, but it's absolutely far from a monthly plan; your top up gonna be end by max 3 days! And also most of the time you face an error because of what is output by the cursor, which is another way to make you fill up the command again to lose your token asap, I believe whatI'mm saying, and I can prove it! Claude is 10 times better than this money scammer. I'm not consentâ
âits July 2026 and the Cursor IDE still SUCKS. whenever you send a prompt, there's a ~50% chance that it will get stuck. even for simple "say hi" messageâ
âI purchased a subscription without realizing it wouldnât resolve the particular usage limitation I was experiencing. I contacted customer support to explain the situation and request a refund. To my surprise, the refund was processed almost immediately! No unnecessary back-and-forth, no complications, and no frustrating obstacles. Itâs genuinely refreshing to encounter a company that handles customer concerns so efficiently and respectfully. Although I ended up cancelling my subscription, thisâ

âDuring a change to their pricing and usage model, our team was required to accept new conditions in order to continue using the service. The billing flow was unclear, and the information presented at the time did not make the subscription commitment or resulting charges sufficiently obvious. The situation became worse when we contacted support. We were initially told that a refund had been processed and should return to our payment method. After several exchanges, Cursor later changed its explaâ
âIt's actually crazy how much has changed from one tweet. Back then, if I wanted to build something, I'd spend more time searching Stack Overflow than actually building. Now it's normal to have ChatGPT open for questions, Claude for brainstorming, Cursor for coding, and some random prototype cooking in Runable while I convince myself I'm being productive. Not saying everything was better before AI, but life definitely felt simpler when "debugging" meant reading the error message instead of arguinâ
âWhat a bag of poo their signup is. I downloaded the macOS installer - that was done by a human. I installed the dmg by dragging it into Apps - that was done by a human. I entered my email address and password - that was done by a human. And then it entered a loop in which it wouldn't let me go any further because it "Can't verify the user is human - Please try again" After trying twice I gave up. What a load of RUBBISH. âEver since the SpaceX buyout and the latest updates, Cursor has completely gone off the rails. It has turned into an absolute ad-billboard maze where every single click triggers a relentless pop-up begging you to spend more money. They basically killed the free tier, forcing me to hook up my company's personal API keys just to bypass the paywall and actually see my project. But the second I switched to my own keys, the app acted completely broken. It is all over the place now. It gets halfway tâ
