What it is

Overview

AutoCrit addresses the challenge faced by fiction and non-fiction writers who struggle to effectively self-edit their manuscripts without professional editorial support. Writers traditionally relied on expensive human editors or attempted manual editing without systematic guidance, often missing critical issues in pacing, dialogue, structure, and style consistency. The platform targets authors seeking to polish their manuscripts to professional publishing standards.

I have both the paid Autocrit and Hemingway app, and Autocrit in its full version does *a lot* more than the Hemingway app. It was such a long time since I upgraded Autocrit that I don't remember exactly which features were in the free version, but to me personally the most useful part is alerting me to repetitive filler words / repetitive word I tend to use in general throughout my work. For instance, I have an excessive love for the word "seemed" that I would never have learned about if not fo

I just got Autocrit, and ran my manuscript through it. This is part of what I got back: “Recommendations Based on Your Score:“It looks like your work in progress needs help most with its pacing. Good stories include a mix of fast and slow-paced sections. Don't bog down your story with too many slow-paced sections—backstory, extended descriptions, and too much exposition.“ But it also says, immediately below those comments: “Pacing and Momentum"Wow! Your pacing is snappy! Less than 5% of your par

So I went and tried this on my military sci-fi story "Hard Contact." (It's currently a novella, but I was doing this initial version for a short story anthology. I really want to give i the full novel treatment, and also it should be first-in-series.) And man, the feedback I got was so in-depth and detailed. A lot of it was good, and had good or interesting ideas, but not all of them were useful for the material as is. Market fuel analysis made me so happy. I've clearly got some work to do,

I have both AutoCrit and Pro Writing Aid. I always thought these were great optional tools, but honestly, after watching this video I can say that they are no longer optional but essential!

I pay for the autocrat plan. (not the courses unfortunately they're to expensive. BUT the paid version is so worth it. It help with planning and if you need ideas they generate some for you..it hold as many story ideas as you want. And you can have the planning/scenes etc on one side while you write without needing to switch tabs.

Running a special? 50% off for the first month 😑 I’m trying it rn for free, just to check. I already have ProWritingAid (1y paid). Autocrit is 7.5 times more expensive.

NEGATIVE reddit

Currently I write my stuff, let it set a day or two, come back and catch the stuff that I can, then make a pass through with the HemingwayApp and call it a day. But of course I am always thinking I can do better. I took a look at AutoCrit, but the free version seems similar to Hemingway, and the paid version seems pretty steep. Though not as steep as some hourly editing rates I've seen. So am wondering if someone has the Paid/Pro version and thinks it makes a big difference, or tried it and foun

I bought a lifetime last Black Friday and never regretted it. It was great then and even better now. Jason, as usual, does a great job in this video.

Don’t know if this helps at all, but I’ve used both and prefer Autocrit. I have Grammerly for spelling g and grammar, and Prowritingaid. I stopped using Autocrit because of their stale old wonky upload. But now that they have a brand new interface and upgraded UI/UX (use ability and interface), I’m inclined to switch back. They are currently running a sale (came across it in FB) $299 for a lifetime pro license. https://www.autocrit.com/pro-lifetime/?fbclid=IwAR3YwAXGVgzt6-65PY0m6BNQb-5-yZmMi_EX9

Changing interference from top to left covering half of the work space, with to possibility to change it back, Leaving customers with disabilities without option. In respond form support " I SEND THIS TO OUR TEAM" - is not really way to talk with customers, leaving them with no option ONLY to ask for solution on youtube channel....

NEGATIVE reddit

I signed up for it and sat through two of the first meetings, but I wasn't getting much out of it. Maybe I should have stuck around. It was basically set up in three sections: Outline/plan (first month), Write (second month) and Edit (third month). I stopped because after two sessions I really didn't have any clear direction. I guess I wanted more step by step. Writing is difficult enough for me without that extra layer.

NEGATIVE reddit

Tried it. Found it bloated and unhelpful.
